1.Introduction
Have you ever dreamt of being a College Professor or being a Doctoral Fellow under the Public University Grants? Then, here is the perfect opportunity to pursue both by attempting the UGC NET exam. UGC or Union Grants Commission is a statutory body of Government of India that is entrusted with the task of conducting UGC-NET exam. The consist of two papers for a total duration of 3 hours and is conducted across 83 subjects that include Art, Management and Law streams.
a) UGC NET General Paper: Small Introduction
The general paper has a total weightage of 100 marks with 50 questions. This paper mainly intends to check the teaching aptitude or research aptitude of the candidate. It is actually designed to test the reasoning ability, reading comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate.
b) UGC NET General Paper: Why is it so Important?
The general paper itself gives you a total of 100 marks that can be scored comparatively better than the core subject paper. This can improve your chances of getting qualified in the first attempt itself.
c) What Is the Format of UGC NET General Paper?
The General paper is conducted along with the main paper or paper-II without any gap in between. The whole exam has to be attempted within the stipulated time of 3 hours. The paper-I consist of 50 questions for 100 marks and all questions are compulsory.

a) NET General Paper Syllabus: An Overview
This paper is mainly intended to analyse the teaching and research capabilities of the candidates. The candidates are tested for their cognitive abilities that include comprehension, analysis, evaluation, understanding of the structure of the arguments, deductive and inductive reasoning. The candidates are also expected to have general awareness regarding teaching and learning process in higher education system. Other abilities like awareness of interaction between people, environment, natural resources and their impact on the quality of life will also be checked.

The main topics for General paper can be classified as follows.
