Higher Secondary and Non-vocational higher Secondary School teachers would unanimously know how important SET qualification is to advance a career in Government Service or any prominent educational institutes. The Kerala SET exam is a qualifying exam constituted by the Kerala State Government to determine the quality of education in the Higher Secondary School level as superior to the KTET exam which includes primary, upper primary, high school, and specialist cadre teacher qualifying exams. The instituting body of the State Eligibility Test in Kerala is the L.B.S Centre for Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram whereas Kerala Teacher’s Eligibility Test is Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan and both of these state-wide exams come under the Kerala Board of Public Examination.

As per the new notification released for the LBS SET exam in January 2024, the last date to apply for the same is on 25^th October 2023. So, aspirants should fill in their application much before and avoid waiting for the last date.

LBS SET 2024 Notification

The LBS SET 2024 Notification was released on 23^rd September 2023 and candidates with the prescribed qualification mentioned in the official website are eligible to apply. That is aspirants with at least 50% marks in their post-graduate degree and B.Ed. degree can apply. Also, candidates who have qualified training courses like LTTC, DLED, etc. are also eligible to apply. Apart from that candidates belonging to reserved categories like SC, ST, and PwBD are eligible for a relaxation of up to 5% on their postgraduate degree marks.

Who can apply for LBS SET?

Apart from the basic qualifications mentioned, there are quite a few qualifications for which the SET exam can be attempted. Find below the qualifications.

Candidates with a valid and completed postgraduate degree and pursuing B.Ed. degree in its last year.
B.Ed. qualified candidates, pursuing a post-graduate degree in their last year.
Candidates belonging to either of the two qualifications above must have qualified for their pursuing degrees within one year from the date of result declaration without which such candidates will not be considered as SET qualified in their respective chance.

Navigate to the official website and click the “Online Registration” link.
Now click on the various links provided to read the instructors and eventually for registration click on the “new registration” link.
After clicking on this link a tab similar to that illustrated below appears.

Now, enter the necessary details as prompted by the page, like your mobile number, and verify thereafter.

After verification, click on the link for registered candidates and upload the necessary details herewith. The page that opens up prompts you to enter the following details below.

State Eligibility Test & Exam Pattern

The State Eligibility Test constituted by the L.B.S Centre for Science and Technology is a qualifying exam that is used to ensure the standards of teaching at the higher secondary school level. The exam shall consist of two papers as mentioned below.

Paper-I

Paper-I is common for all candidates irrespective of their subject of specialization. This paper consists of two parts, part A - General Knowledge and part B – Aptitude in Teaching.

Paper-II

Paper II is subject-specific and candidates can choose the subject of specialization from the 31 subjects available.
