The Kerala SSLC (Class 10) exam 2026 is expected to become more challenging due to changes in the question paper pattern.
As per the revised format, each subject paper will include easy, average, and tough questions, making it harder for students to secure a Full A+ without strong understanding and analytical skills. The revised pattern will be followed in both annual SSLC exam 2026 and model examinations.
What the 30-50-20 Pattern Means for Students
Under the new SSLC question paper pattern:
- 30% Easy questions – direct questions based on textbook content and basic definitions
- 50% Average questions – concept-based questions that test application of knowledge
- 20% Tough questions – analytical and higher-order thinking questions that may involve multiple concepts
This pattern aims to assess a student’s conceptual clarity, understanding, and problem-solving ability, rather than simply byhearting the textbook. To score well, students must practise a balanced mix of easy, moderate, and difficult questions.

Why This Makes Full A+ Harder to Achieve
Kerala has always had a very high SSLC pass percentage. However, in recent years, the number of students getting Full A+ in all subjects has started to decrease. In the 2025 SSLC results, even though 99.5% of students passed, fewer students were able to score Full A+ compared to earlier years.
With the new question paper pattern, more questions will test thinking, understanding, and application of concepts. Students who study only by memorising answers may find it difficult to score high marks in every subject. The revised pattern expects students to understand lessons clearly and think independently, which helps them prepare better for higher secondary classes.
