The Central Railway Minister Sri Aswini Vaishnav has announced the prestigious High-Speed Rail Corridor connecting Mumbai to Ahmedabad heading India to the utmost luxury of hassle-free travel in short span. The “Bullet train” transiting between the two cities will surpass 12 destinations including Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Surat, Bharuch and others. The Bullet train project is expected to be completed by 2026. The Mumbai-Ahmedabad corridor was proposed in the 2009-2010 Rail Budget, plying between Pune to Ahmedabad via Mumbai.

The train is expected to travel 508km between the cities in 3 hours with a peak speed of 350 km/hr. The route covers a 21-km underground tunnel which also includes a 7 km underwater tunnel at Thane Creek. This 21 km track from Kayan Shilphata to Bandra Kundra Complex in Mumbai can incorporate dual tracks that comes under a single-tube channel.
