NET Exam 2024
NET or National Eligibility Test is an examination conducted by University Grants Commission. UGC has given the National Testing Agency (NTA) the responsibility of administering the UGC-NET test, which is intended to ascertain an Indian national's eligibility for the positions of "Assistant Professor" and "Junior Research Fellowship in Indian universities and colleges.
From December 2018, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will administer the UGC-NET through computer-based testing (CBT). Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) awards and/or assistant professorship eligibility are contingent on the candidate's overall performance in UGC-NET Papers I and II. Candidates who only score the marks preferred for an assistant professorship are not eligible to be considered for a JRF.
UGC NET Exam 2024 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who are applying for UGC NET Exam should have secured a minimum of 55% marks (without rounding off) in Master’s Degree or equivalent examination from universities or institutions recognized by UGC.
Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course or who have appeared or appearing the final year exam are eligible to attend the exam provisionally. Their JRF / Assistant Professorship will be awarded only after they have passed their Master’s Degree with the minimum required marks mentioned above.
Also, relaxation of 5% marks is allowed candidates from OBC – NCL / SC / ST / PwD / Third Gender communities. Minimum mark candidates from the above-mentioned community shall be 50%.
UGC NET Exam 2024 Age Limit & Relaxations
For the candidates of Junior Research Fellowship, the upper age limit is 30 years. A relaxation of 5 years is allowed to the candidates from OBC – NCL / SC / ST / PwD / Third Gender communities.
No upper age limit is applicable for UGC – NET Assistant Professor eligibility.
How to apply for NET?
Candidates should submit the application through online. The link for registration will be published in the official website after the release of the notification.
Before applying for UGC NET, candidates should ensure their eligibility as prescribed in the official prospectus.
Make sure the Subject for Paper II and Examination City has been selected correctly.
While applying candidates must be careful to fill the complete and correct postal address along with PIN Code. Also provide the complete and correct mobile number and email id to get regular updates on exam.
All candidates need to pay. There is a difference in fee structure for candidates from different community.

The admit card for NET will be available in official site only after the scrutiny of applications. In which the dates of exam will be mentioned.
UGC NET 2024 Exam Date
Exact date of examination is not released yet. Although we are expecting the next edition of UGC NET in June 2024. UGC NET is conducted twice every year, June & December.
UGC NET Exam 2024 Syllabus
UGC NET Exam Syllabus can be divided into two. Paper I follows the syllabus the general aptitude of candidates. The detailed syllabus of Paper I is as follows:

- Methods of teaching in Institutions of higher learning: Teacher centred vs. Learner centred methods; Off-line vs. On-line methods (Swayam, Swayamprabha, MOOCs etc.).
- Teaching Support System: Traditional, Modern and ICT based.
- Evaluation Systems: Elements and Types of evaluation, Evaluation in Choice Based Credit System in Higher education, Computer based testing, Innovations in evaluation systems.
- Unit II: Research Aptitude
- Research: Meaning, Types, and Characteristics, Positivism and Post-positivistic approach to research.
- Methods of Research: Experimental, Descriptive, Historical, Qualitative and Quantitative methods.

Paper II assess the in-depth knowledge of candidates on the subject of their choice. For UGC NET there are 83 subjects listed for Paper II. Candidates can choose any of the 83 subjects according to their eligibility as mentioned in the eligibility criteria.
UGC NET Exam 2024 Preparation
Candidates who are preparing for NET are best advised to create a robust study plan. A good study plan will let you finish all the topics in time bound manner. Practice as many previous year questions from both Paper I and II. This will help the candidates to get familiar with the exam pattern and excel in time management.
