PSC Notes: How to make effective notes for Kerala PSC exam?

If you are a Kerala PSC aspirant, you might be having an idea of the advantage of notes preparation. While everyone tells us to study, no one teaches us how to study. Before beginning your task, you should never forget the precious time you have. Smart note making techniques will help your work done quickly. You don’t have to make your notes pretty, instead you have to make them organized. In our country, there are innumerous competitive as well as qualifying exams, including UPSC, SSC, State PSC etc. where the notes-making strategies differ for each of the exam.
WHY NOTES ARE INDISPENSABLE?
- Dynamic Learning
Taking notes is an art. It differs for each exam, because the pattern of UPSC syllabus is entirely different from a state PSC syllabus. Another important fact is , You should definitely have a dedication towards your studies let it be PSC or SSC or UPSC. If you follow a passive nature throughout a day, then it will badly affect your whole temperament and emphasis.
- Memory Retention
We are not robots; we are just normal human beings. I’m emphasizing on the same point because we can’t mug up the whole PSC rank file or an SCERT textbook in a single day or a week. Even if we choose a particular portion to study, For instance, Indian Constitution, we will forget the same after two three days, if not revised properly. Hence, preparing study notes by your own will improve your memory retention capacity.
- Make it Your Own
We very well know the fact that Kerala PSC’S new pattern of questions or statement model questions which should be attended only after a serious preparation. If we make a comparison between Self study and online PSC coaching, the former is time consuming. If you find a nearby PSC coaching center, or an online learning platform, you will get a basic foundation regarding the exam and its whole syllabus. Other than that, you will also get opportunity to attend daily exams or mock tests and revisions.
- Perfect Notes = Perfect Revision
The continuous process of notes making is actually a perfect revision tool. Compare a bulky PSC study material or a rank file with your own notes. The second one will be much more valuable for you to recollect what you studied till then.
HOW TO PREPARE NOTES?
- Don’t Copy Other’s Notes
It’s the first sign of sluggishness. Instead of taking others notes, prepare your own notes. Writing the significant points on a paper is like writing it on your mind.
- Not in First Reading
Its better not to write it after the first reading. This will be much bulkier. While if you read it twice or thrice, you will be able to jot down the relevant points in an examination point of view.
- Make it Brief
Whenever you make notes make it as concise as possible. For example, you can convert a 100 words paragraph into ten words.
- Write it in your own way
This is not just about the language, but it is your own personalized way of writing that will be understood by you only. It’s not always necessary to take the notes in a descriptive way by copying the whole textbook.
- Highlight your points
Using bullets, boxes or tables with different colored pens will make your notes more attractive at the same time you will be able to reach important and valid points easily without wasting your time. After reading this, don’t make your notebook like a rainbow. If it is a Mathematics equation or a Current Affairs point, try to jot it down in bullets or in boxes (Note: it should be the most significant areas, otherwise your note will look chaotic).
Before concluding, if you truly need one smarter tip to memorize, take a flash card and write the most difficult point that you always forget, let it be a mathematics equation or a historic year. Quiz yourself during the break time and this is the easiest and time saving super smart notes taking tip that you will ever get. Make your study time like your leisure time other than thinking it as a gargantuan task. Best of luck for your exams!!
