The Kerala TET exam constituted by the Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan opens up a wide array of opportunities especially in the public services with myriad of job profiles like LPSA, UPSA, HSST and much more. The exam is conducted bi-annually to determine the quality of education in lower primary, upper primary, high school and specialist levels. 1. Kerala TET Category 1 Syllabus 2023
The KTET category 1 syllabus mainly covers topics like Child Development & Pedagogy, Mathematics and Environmental Science in paper-I. The paper-II would be the first language or regional language of the candidate and paper-III will have English or Arabic as optional subjects.

2. Kerala TET Category 1 Exam Pattern 2023
The KTET category 1 paper outlays Child Development (for the age group 6 to 11 years) and Pedagogy for 30 marks, Mathematics for 30 marks and Environmental Science for 30 marks. The other two sections involve first and second languages for 30 marks each. Every correct response in the exam will be awarded ‘1’ mark and there will be no negative marking for wrong responses.

The required eligibility criteria are as follows.
- 45% in Higher Secondary/ Senior Higher Secondary Qualification and a pass in TTC/ D.Ed./ D.El.Ed. Ed (Diploma in Elementary Education)
OR
- 45% in Higher Secondary/ Senior Higher Secondary Qualification and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education approved by NCTE (2002)
OR
- 50% in Higher Secondary/ Senior Higher Secondary Qualification and 4-year B.El.Ed. Ed (Bachelor of Elementary Education)
OR
- 50% in Higher Secondary/ Senior Higher Secondary Qualification and 2-year D.Ed. (Special Education)

The KTET category 2 or qualification exam for Upper primary School Teachers includes Child Development & Pedagogy, Mathematics with Science ( for applicants with majors either in mathematics or Science) or Social Science in part-I. And part-II & III includes first and second languages.

The KTET category 3 paper specifies Adolescent Psychology, Theories of Learning and Teaching Aptitude for 40 marks. The paper-II involve first language subjects for 30 marks and paper-III is subject specific carrying a weightage of 80 marks. Every correct response in the exam will be awarded ‘1’ mark and there will be no negative marking for wrong responses.

11. Kerala TET Category 3 Eligibility
The required eligibility criteria are as follows.
- 45% in BA/ B. Com/ B.Sc. and B.Ed. in that corresponding subject (From Universities of Kerala or Universities approved by the Government of Kerala)
OR
- M.Sc. qualification and B.Ed. degree admission obtained on the basis of M.Sc. marks.
OR
- 50% marks in M.Sc. (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology) with M.Sc. Ed degree approved by NCERT/ 50% marks in M.Sc. (Zoology, Botany) with M.Sc. Ed. degree in Life Sciences from RIE (regional Institute of Education).
OR
- 45% in BA or equivalent with qualification in LTTC/ D. El. Ed.

The specialist teachers in Sports, Art & Craft and Language subjects need to qualify KTET category 4 to serve as Specialist teachers in Government Institutions or Schools. However, language teachers who have qualified K3 need not sit separately for K4 exams.

14. Kerala TET Category 4 Exam Pattern 2023
The KTET category 4 paper involves Child Development & Pedagogy for 30 marks. The paper-II involve first language subjects for 40 marks and paper-III is subject specific portion carrying a weightage of 80 marks. Every correct response in the exam will be awarded ‘1’ mark and there will be no negative marking for wrong responses.

15. Kerala TET Category 4 Eligibility
The required eligibility criteria are as follows.
- Teachers eligible in Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu (UP level), Specialist teachers, Sports teachers (High school level) and Art & Craft teachers (approved by NCTE)
OR
Teachers in specialised fields (mandated by Act and Rules-XXXI)
