What is KTET?

Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test also known as KTET was introduced by the Kerala State when 2009 RTE Act instructed the States to ensure the qualification of teachers for the better cultivation of students. KTET is a qualification Exam for teachers conducted by Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan to teach students for different grades. There are 4 categories in KTET. KTET Category 1 is made for classes 1 to 4 (lower primary), KTET Category 2 for classes 5 to 7 (upper primary), KTET Category 3 is for classes 8 to 10 (High School) and KTET Category 4 for language teachers (upto UP) and for specialist teachers ( art, craft...). You may choose the specific category depending on which grade you are opting to teach. It is true that KTET is a qualification exam, but you need the required education qualification to become a teacher by writing KTET examination. KTET Notification 2023 [ October]

KTET Notification 2023 has been released in the official website just recently. From the KTET October notification one can perceive that the next KTET exam 2023 will be carried out in the month of December. Carefully read the following essence taken from KTET Official Notification 2023:-

  • Candidates certified with CTET Primary Stage can be removed from KTET Category 1 and those candidates certified with CTET Elementary Stage can be removed from KTET Category 2.
  • Candidates acquiring qualification of NET, SET, M.Phil, PhD, M.Ed does not have to necessarily attend KTET Category 1 to 4.
  • Candidates qualified KTET Category 3 need not to attend category 2.
  • Candidates passed either KTET Category 1 or 2 is present to recognised to be qualified to teach in both upper primary and lower primary.

KTET October Notification: New Updates

  • There is a slight difference in the model of the exam questions.
  • The difficulty level of questions is expected to be high this time.
  • The exam pattern is same.
  • The marking scheme is the same.
  • There is no much changes in the model since 2020.

KTET Notification 2023: Important Dates

KTET Notification 2023 was released on 31st October 2023. Apparently, from the new notice we can see that, this time KTET Exam Date is scheduled from 29/12/2023 (KTET Category 1 & 2) to 30/12/2023 (KTET Category 3 & 4). The duration of the exams is allotted as 2 ½ hours, which is confirmed to be executed from morning to noon and noon to evening for distinct exams.   • The examination date for both category 1 and 2 have been set for December 29, 2023.

  • The examination date for both category 3 and 4 have been set for December 30, 2023.
  • The online registration starts on 6th November 2023.

  • The last date to apply and pay application fee is November 17, 2023.

  • The deadline to obtain the final print is November 18, 2023

  • The date to obtain your Hall Ticket from the website is 20th December 2023.

KTET Exam Pattern 2023

There is no major difference in the KTET Exam Pattern of all Categories since 2020. The question paper will have 150 objective type questions carrying one mark each. You can mark your answer in the OMR sheet given by the invigilators. From KTET Category 1 Exam pattern to KTET Category 4 Exam, obviously the question paper pattern shows major variations.   • The all four exams are Carried out in offline mode
  • The exam will last for 2 and a half hour.
  • The question paper is designed as MCQs where you will be given choices for every answer.
  • Four papers will be given.
  • There will be a total of 150 questions.
  • Each question carries one mark.
  • The total mark is 150.
  • No negative mark will be given for wrong answers.
  • An unattended question will also not carry negative mark.
  • Remember to carefully mark your answer in the OMR sheet to avoid getting wrong answers.

How to Apply for KTET Exam?

If you want to elevate your teaching career, qualifying KTET is a major step. KTET Application Process is not that difficult to go through. You have to reach out to the KTET official website of Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan. Select the link “new registration” from the Home Page. A form will appear which you have to fill to provide your details for writing the exam. There, you can also choose which all categories you want to attend. There is no restriction for choosing multiple categories, so you can select the category/categories according to your eligibility and interest. After picking the desired category, you will have to fill your qualifications and related details.

  • Thereafter, you should provide the details of any document for identification ( note that you have to bring the chosen identity document/card when you appear for the exam for verification.
  • Then a form comes into to view where you have to fill your personal details and choose the educational district for exam centre.

You will also have to upload a photo according to the rules provided in the official notice.

  • Then you have to click on the save button. The details of your application will appear. This is for you to cross check if you have given any wrong information by mistake. If you have made any, click the “edit application” button and correct the errors. If all the details you filled are correct, you can do the final confirmation. Once the final confirmation is done, you cannot change or edit anything.
  • After the final confirmation, you will get the application number and application id. You have to keep the printouts of the same.
  • By using S.B.I e – payment you can pay the exam fee through NetBanking, or through Credit/Debit card.

KTET Eligibility Criteria 2023

KTET eligibility is precisely described by the Board by arranging the degree of qualification in ascending order matching with the eligibility required for different classes. The KTET Eligibility Criteria 2023 has not occurred to carry any change in the format. There is also specification of KTET Age Limit as limitless. This means if any aspirant has the required qualification, he/she does not need to be in a specific age category. So if you are trying to become a teacher by getting KTET- qualified, all you need to have is the Education Eligibility prescribed by the Conducting Authority. Some Facts About KTET Age Limit 2023

  • To apply/write KTET Examination, there is no Age limit
  • However, you will need to be in a specific age category to be qualified as a teacher.
  • You should also keep in mind that acquiring some courses mentioned by the Exam Board demand the qualification of age.
  • So practically you have to be at least 19 years old to write the KTET Examination.
  • Although, there is no upper age limit in that sense

  • 50% in Higher Secondary /Senior Higher Secondary qualification and 4 – year B.El.Ed (Bachelor of Elementary Education)

Or

  • 50% in Higher Secondary/Senior Higher secondary qualification and 4-year BA.Ed (Bachelor of education) or B.Sc.Ed (Bachelor of Science in Education)

KTET Category 3 or K3: High School Classes

  • 45% in BA/B.Com/B.Sc. and B.Ed. in the corresponding subject (from Universities of Kerala or Universities approved by the Government of Kerala)

Or

  • M.Sc qualification and B.Ed degree admission obtained on the basis of M.Sc marks.

Or

  • 50% marks in M.Sc (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology) with M.Sc.Ed degree approved by NCERT/50% marks in M.Sc (Zoology, Botany) with M.Sc.Ed degree in Life Sciences from RIE (Regional Institute of Education).

Or

45% in BA or equivalent with qualification in LTTC/D.El.Ed.

KTET Category 4 or K4: Language/Special Teachers

  • Teachers eligible in Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu (UP level), Specialist teachers, Sports teachers (High School level) and Art & Craft teachers (approved by NCTE)

Teachers in specialised fields (mandated by Act and rules- XXXI)
