1.Kerala TET Exam

The KTET or Kerala Teachers Eligibility Test is an exam constituted by the Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan and serves the purpose of evaluating teachers in order to assess their ability to combat various levels of challenges involved in schooling. This certification test also ensures that teaching quality will not be compromised at any cost under public service departments that it substantiates as a mandatory eligibility for teachers to apply in various Kerala PSC posts.

2.K-TET Exam Pattern: An Overview

The KTET exams are conducted in various categories like Lower Primary level or K1 (category 1), Upper Primary level or K2 (category 2), High School level or K3 (category 3) and Specialist teachers or K4 (category 4). And each category has a different syllabus and marking scheme.

The recent KTET exam was conducted in December 2022 and the next exam will be around the corner by the month of June and will be intimated soon from the Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan. The exam is scheduled in MCQ format with a total of 150 questions. Each exam category has three parts.

3. Marking Scheme of KTET Exam

The KTET exam is mainly conducted for 4 categories and each category has its own specified marking scheme. The overall scheme and nature of exam is below.

  • The KTET exams are conducted for a total of 150 marks
  • The total number of questions are 150 and
  • Each question carries ‘1’ mark each
  • There will be no negative marking as this is a qualifying exam
  • The exam is for a total duration of 150 minutes or 2 hour and 30 minutes

4. KTET Exam: Question Distribution

The question distribution for various categories differs when analysed section-wise however the overall number of questions will be same for all categories. For instance, the psychology paper has 30 questions in K1, K2 and K4 papers whereas there will be 40 questions for the K3 paper.

5. Tips For Preparing or The KTET Exam

Exam preparations do feel like a Herculean task that require a lot emotional and mental strength to be at par with the competent ones. However, following certain steps of routine habits can help you tackle any problem. Some tips to do so are given below.

  • First, try to map the syllabus down and devise a study plan
  • You should design a study plan such that it is executable within the time span

  • Be consistent in your preparation because remember ‘Rome was not built in a day!’
  • After the initial prep phase, give mock tests to test yourself

  • If you have very little time, then always go for model question paper practice as much as you can before you attempt the exams
