KTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

KTET 2026 eligibility criteria are different for Category 1, 2, 3, & 4 based on LP, UP, High School and special subject teaching qualifications. Since KTET is mandatory as per Supreme Court rules, all teachers must qualify KTET to continue and secure a teaching career in Kerala.

KTET 1 Eligibility

  • KTET Category 1 Eligibility Criteria requires Higher Secondary with minimum 45% marks or equivalent.
  • Candidates must hold TTC, D.Ed., D.El.Ed., B.El.Ed. or Diploma in Special Education as per NCTE norms.

KTET 2 Eligibility

  • Any graduate degree eligible for B.Ed plus teaching certificate (D.Ed/D.El.Ed/TTC).
  • Higher Secondary + 4-year B.El.Ed/BSc.Ed/BA.Ed.
  • BBA/BCA/B.Tech + teaching qualification as per KER Chapter XXXI Rule 3.
  • Final-year D.Ed/D.El.Ed/B.Ed students can apply with college certificate

KTET 3 Eligibility

  • B.Sc./B.A./B.Com. degree from a recognized university with minimum 45% marks + B.Ed. in the same subject.
  • Degree in Mathematics, Physical Science, Chemistry, Botany or Zoology with at least 50% marks + M.Sc.Ed. in the same subject.

KTET 4 Eligibility 

  • KTET Category 4 Eligibility 2026 is for teachers qualified in Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Physical Education, and specialist subjects.
  • Candidates must meet Kerala Educational Act & Rules, Chapter XXXI eligibility.
  • Eligible teachers can apply online for the KTET 2026 Category 4 exam.
