Non-Vocational Teacher (Junior) Notification was a recruitment notified in the month of June 2023. The vacancies were released by the Department of Kerala Vocational Higher Secondary Education for higher secondary teachers of Mathematics. NON-VOCATIONAL TEACHER (JUNIOR) QUALIFICATION

The necessary qualification to apply for the post of Non-Vocational Teacher (Junior) in Mathematics is a postgraduate degree in Mathematics with 50% marks awarded by any of the Universities in Kerala or considered equivalent.

1) Post-graduate Degree in Mathematics with not less than 50% marks awarded by any of the Universities in Kerala or an equivalent qualification.

2)

i. B.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by a University of Kerala.

ii. In the absence of persons with B.Ed. Degree in the concerned subject, B.Ed. Degree acquired after a regular course of study in the concerned faculty as specified in the Acts and Statutes of any of the universities in Kerala.

iii. In the absence of persons with B.Ed. Degree as specified in item (i) and (ii) above, persons with B.Ed. Degree in any subject acquired after a regular course of study from any of the Universities in Kerala or a qualification recognized as equivalent thereto by any of the Universities in Kerala.

iv. In the absence of B.Ed. Degree holders’ candidates having a Master’s Degree with not less than 50% marks and who have passed SET will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates having Ph.D. or M.Phil. or qualified as Junior Research Fellowship/NET. The Teachers appointed under this provision will have to acquire a B.Ed. Degree at their own expense within 5 years from the date of entry in service.

v. Persons who have acquired an M.Ed. in the subject concerned after a regular course of study and recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala are exempted from B.Ed. qualifications.

3) Must have passed the State Eligibility Test for the post of Non-Vocational Teacher conducted by the Government of Kerala or by the Agency authorized by the State Government.

IMPORTANCE OF STATE ELIGIBILITY TEST

SET aka State Eligibility Test is a qualifying exam that is a pre-requisite for all higher secondary school teachers in the government service state-wide. The exam is convened by the L.B.S Centre for Science and Technology, Thiruvananthapuram, and acts as the nodal head for Kerala SET exams. Candidates who are still waiting for a chance to appear for the SET exams can directly log on to the official website at https://lbsedp.lbscentre.in/setjan24/ and start the online registration process for the upcoming SET exam scheduled for January 2024.

SET January 2024 exam is a state-wide eligibility test coordinated by the Kerala government for the recruitment of higher secondary and non-vocational higher Secondary teachers in the state. The only requirement to be eligible for this exam is a 50% mark in the post-graduation degree along with a B.Ed. degree in the concerned subject. Candidates who have completed other training courses like LTTC and DLED are also considered for SET.

The aspirants can apply for the exam online mode from 25th September 2023 to 25th October 2023. Further, candidates belonging to General and OBC sects have to remit Rs 1000/- and other reserved categories like SC, ST, and PwBD sects need to pay Rs 500/- via online mode only.
