The KTET or Kerala TET exam in November is coming soon. Most of the applicants might be in a hurry for the final preparation. There is minimum four weeks left for the Kerala Teachers Eligibility Test. In Kerala, TET exam is conducted as a qualifying exam for teaching in LP, UP and High School sections.

Category 1

  • This Category is for those who are going to teach in LP classes. The minimum eligibility to apply for this particular category is: Plus-Two with at least 45% marks, TTC/ D.Ed./D.El.Ed.
  • Main Subjects: Child Psychology, English, Malayalam, Environmental Science, Mathematics (30 marks for each). The total marks are 150. For the general category, the minimum marks needed is 90, and for SC/ST and OBC, it is 82.

  • Main Subjects: Child Psychology (30 marks), Science + Mathematics or Social Science (60 marks), Language subjects (Malayalam/ English)- 30 marks. The total marks are 150. For the general category, the minimum marks needed is 90, and for SC/ST and OBC, it is 82. The candidates should analyze the KTET category 2 syllabus properly. Rather than simply mugging up the whole syllabus, you should have a practical knowledge too or else you should develop such skills to face these kinds of competitive exams. How to Prepare?

Child Psychology should be learned by understanding each and every thing in detail. Just a theoretical knowledge is not enough to learn this subject but a practical knowledge is also necessary. In addition, the candidate should develop their knowledge in every subject including the language and science subjects. The core subject is generally based on the 5-8 SCERT textbooks. Even then the questions are much standardized and plus-two level syllabus was also asked in the previous exams.

Category 3

  • KTET category 3 exam is for the teachers in High School sections and those who have completed their BA/ B. Com/B.Sc. with at least 45% marks along with B.Ed. is the basic qualification asked for attending this exam. The students who studied from other Universities/ Board approved as equivalent to the Universities in Kerala are also eligible to apply.

How to Prepare?

The candidates should be well prepared in subjects like Child Psychology, Learning Theories, Teaching Aptitude etc. You should analyze the core subject syllabus and go through it thoroughly. Along with the core subject, don’t forget to read the significant areas in KTET Psychology and Language subjects.

Category 4

  • This category is mainly for Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu Special Teachers, Sports Teachers & Arts and crafts teachers up to the High School Section. Those who have the Diploma/ Degree Certificate/ Degree in Teaching approved by the Government/Exam board/ NCTE/Universities are eligible to apply.

How to Prepare?

The main peculiarity of this exam is: The level of Psychology questions is not that complex as compared to other categories. Second major part is the assessment of your knowledge in Language subjects.
