1. When will the KTET notification be released?
A: The KTET 2023 notification is already released in the Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan website on 21st March 2023. The online registration for the exam will commence from 3rd April 2023 and the last date to apply is 17th April 2023.
2. How often is KTET conducted?
KTET is usually conducted within a gap of three months, however the pandemic and post-pandemic times has brought about certain changes in the schedule. But now, KTET exams have been re-instated. The last KTET exam was held in the month of December 2022 and the next exam is proposed for the month of May. So, there is roughly a gap of 4 months in between.
3. When should we apply for next KTET exam?
The application portal will be opened from 3rd April 2023 till 17th April 2023. Applicants can visit the official website of Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan viz., https://ktet.kerala.gov.in/ and register there to apply.
4. When will the admit cards for the KTET exam be released?
The admit cards for all the categories of KTET exam will be released on 25th April 2023 on the official website of Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan.
5. Can a candidate with pre-primary TTC (1 year course) appear for the KTET exams?
A candidate with pre-primary TTC is prescribed to teach in pre-primary, kindergarten, Nursery departments and several preparatory schools. They are not eligible for KTET as the category-1 (Lower Primary level) or the basic paper itself need a 2-year TTC degree.
6. Can a person with +2 Degree qualification apply for KTET?
Candidates with +2 Degree qualification should also have any of the elementary education degree recognised by the Government of Kerala.
The prescribed qualifications for KTET category-1 as per the notification are given below:
- 45% in Higher Secondary/ Senior Higher Secondary Qualification and a pass in TTC/ D.Ed./D.El.Ed. (Diploma in Elementary Education)
OR
- 45% in Higher Secondary/ Senior Higher Secondary Qualification and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education approved by NCTE (2002)
OR
- 50% in Higher Secondary/ Senior Higher Secondary Qualification and 4-year B.El.Ed. Ed (Bachelor of Elementary Education)
OR
- 50% in Higher Secondary/ Senior Higher Secondary Qualification and 2-year D.Ed. (Special Education)
7. Is CTET-1 equivalent to KTET-2?
Candidates who have qualified C-TET Primary Stage (Paper-1) will be exempted from qualifying KTET Category-1 exams. And candidates who have qualified C-TET Elementary stage (Paper-2) are exempted from qualifying KTET Category-2 exams.
8. What is the age limit for writing KTET exams?
There is no particular age-limit for writing KTET. However, candidates who have qualified any of the Categories will not be allowed to attempt again to revise their scores.
9. Is Degree qualification must for attempting KTET Category-2 exams?
Degree qualification is not a must in case the candidate has qualified Senior Secondary level with 50% marks along with a 4-year degree like B.El.Ed. / B.A.Ed. or B.Sc. Ed. To appear for KTET category-2 exams.
10. After completing +2 degree, how to join for TTC?
A candidate who has completed their Higher Secondary degree with more than 45% marks are eligible to apply for the Teachers Training Programme. After the candidates can join for Diploma in Elementary Education under the State Government of Kerala ( https://scert.kerala.gov.in/d-el-ed/ ) or TTC courses hosted by other institutes that are recognised by the national Council for Teacher Education ( A statutory Body of the Government of India, NCTE)
11. Can an aspirant apply directly for Category-4 exams? What are the qualifications required to be a language teacher?
All candidates who have a specialization (graduate degree) in any of the category-4 subjects ( languages-Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Art & Crafts and Sports) along with a Certificate/ Diploma/ Degree in Teaching recognised by NCTE are eligible to apply. And all applicants with the above qualification can directly sit for category-4 exams.
Note: All language teachers who have qualified category-3 (Candidates with Master’s degree in language subjects) are exempted from writing KTET category-4.
12. Can an individual qualified with KTET Category-2 teach for Upper primary section?
Of course, as Category-2 exams are exclusively for Upper Primary School Teachers.
13. Is it true that candidates who have qualified KTET category-3 need not sit for KTET catefory-2 exams?
Yes, candidates who have qualified for KTET category-3 need not sit for KTET category-2.
14. Can a B.Ed. Second year student write KTET exams?
Candidates are pursuing B.Ed./ D.Ed./ D.El.Ed. who are in their final years, specifically in their 3rd and 4th semesters are only eligible to apply. And applicants should note that 2nd semester or first year students are not eligible to sit for the exams.
15. Which books should we refer for KTET category-1 English, Science and mathematics?
