AISSEE 2027 Educational Qualification: Class 6 and Class 9
Apart from age, parents should understand the AISSEE 2027 Educational Qualifications applicable to the class and type of school for which admission is sought.
Educational Qualification for Class 6
For regular Sainik School Class VI admission, the eligibility section of the Information Bulletin specifies the age requirement. It does not state a separate Class V passing condition under this regular admission provision.
However, an additional educational condition applies to candidates seeking admission through the 60% route in approved New Sainik Schools.
Under this route, the candidate:
- Must be currently studying in the approved New Sainik School where admission is sought.
- Must have passed or be appearing in Class V as on 31 March 2027.
- Must also satisfy the prescribed Class VI age criteria.
Parents should therefore distinguish between regular Sainik School admission, the 40% route and the 60% route in approved New Sainik Schools.
Educational Qualification for Class 9
For Class IX admission, candidates must have passed the Class VIII examination from a recognised school at the time of admission.
This condition applies to candidates seeking Class IX admission in regular Sainik Schools and the applicable approved New Sainik School admission routes.
Candidates who are currently studying in Class VIII should ensure that they pass the examination before the admission process is completed.
AISSEE 2027 Eligibility for Approved New Sainik Schools: 40% and 60% Routes
AISSEE 2027 also covers admission to approved New Sainik Schools. These schools follow a separate admission structure with two routes: the 40% route (Category A) and the 60% route (Category B).
Understanding these routes is important because the eligibility requirements are not identical.
1. AISSEE 2027 40% Route – Category A
Under the AISSEE 2027 40% route, a minimum of 40% of the seats under the Sainik School stream in approved New Sainik Schools are filled based on the All India Merit List of AISSEE.
Candidates who satisfy the applicable age and educational eligibility requirements can seek admission through this route.
Important points:
- Candidates do not need to be existing students of the approved New Sainik School.
- Selection is based on the AISSEE merit list.
- Candidates can opt for eligible approved New Sainik Schools during counselling.
- Admission is subject to available seats and other prescribed conditions.
For Class VI, the prescribed age range is 10–12 years as on 31 March 2027.
For Class IX, candidates must be 13–15 years old as on 31 March 2027 and must have passed Class VIII from a recognised school at the time of admission.
2. AISSEE 2027 60% Route – Category B
The AISSEE 2027 60% route is intended for eligible students who are already studying in an approved New Sainik School and wish to continue in the Sainik School stream of the same institution.
Under this route, up to 60% of the seats may be filled by students already enrolled in the respective approved New Sainik School, based on the prescribed merit process.
The additional requirements are:
For Class VI:
- The candidate must be studying in the approved New Sainik School where admission is sought.
- The candidate must have passed or be appearing in Class V as on 31 March 2027.
- The candidate must satisfy the prescribed age criteria for Class VI.
For Class IX:
- The candidate must be studying in the approved New Sainik School where admission is sought.
- The candidate must have passed or be appearing in Class VIII as on 31 March 2027.
- The candidate must satisfy the prescribed age criteria for Class IX.
Note that the availability of Class IX admission and the applicable routes depend on the approved New Sainik Schools that have progressed to Class IX and their available vacancies. Parents should check the relevant school's admission information and the AISSEE 2027 vacancy details.
Can Girls Apply for AISSEE 2027?
Yes. Girls are eligible to apply for AISSEE 2027 for both Class VI and Class IX, subject to the Sainik School admission conditions and availability of seats.
The age criteria for girls are the same as those prescribed for boys.
Admission Class | Girls' Eligibility | Age Criteria |
Class VI | Admission is open for girls; check school-wise seat availability | 10–12 years |
Class IX | Admission is open subject to availability of vacancies | 13–15 years |
For approved New Sainik Schools, parents should also check the concerned school's admission policy before applying.
Is There Any Age Relaxation in AISSEE 2027?
The AISSEE 2027 eligibility criteria specify fixed date-of-birth ranges for Class VI and Class IX admission.
- Class VI: 01 April 2015 to 31 March 2017.
- Class IX: 01 April 2012 to 31 March 2014.
Candidates should not assume that age relaxation is available based on their category or other personal circumstances. Parents must follow the exact AISSEE 2027 age conditions stated in the official Information Bulletin and check for any specific clarification issued by the NTA or Sainik Schools Society.
AISSEE 2027 Medical Fitness and Other Admission Requirements
Meeting the AISSEE 2027 age and educational requirements makes a candidate eligible to be considered for admission. However, qualifying in the written entrance examination is not the only condition for securing a Sainik School seat.
Admission is subject to several additional requirements, including:
1. Performance in AISSEE: Candidates must appear for the entrance examination and satisfy the applicable qualifying requirements.
2. Merit and Seat Availability: Admission is based on the candidate's position in the relevant merit list, subject to available vacancies and the applicable school, category, gender and Home State/Other State conditions.
3. Medical Fitness: Candidates must meet the medical fitness requirements prescribed for admission. Medical fitness is assessed through the prescribed medical examination.
4. Document Verification: Original documents and certificates are verified during the admission process. Candidates must provide valid documents supporting the details submitted in their application.
5. e-Counselling: Qualified candidates must participate in the prescribed e-counselling process for admission.
Therefore, satisfying the basic eligibility criteria does not automatically guarantee admission. Final selection depends on merit, vacancies, medical fitness and document verification.
