OVERVIEW

Kerala PSC has opened its application window for the exam of Last Grade Servants. LGS is one of the exams that demands great diligence in preparation due to its highly competitive nature. Data shows that over 6.9 lakh candidates had applied for LGS last time and more than 8.5 lakh candidates before that. And PSC is expecting more than 7lakh applicant this time. The Qualification, pay scale and last date to apply are mentioned in detail in the recently published official notification with category number 535/2023. Being one of the highly competed public exams LGS also need diligent study plan.

Kerala PSC LGS 2023 Vacancy

Vacancy for LGS grade is tentative. During the period of current rank list (till July, 2025) PSC is expected to fill a total of 8000 vacancies. Vacancies will be reported and filled district wise towards various departments. LGS vacancies included in the subordinate services of Government Secretariat, Legislative Secretariat, State Audit Department, Kerala Public Service Commission and Advocate General's Office shall not be considered for selection from the ranked lists published as per this notification. Also in its official notification PSC has informed that the vacancies for Last Grade Service in Kerala Municipal common service will also be filled up from the Ranked List published in pursuance to this notification.

Kerala PSC LGS 2023 Exam Pattern

The exam was previously conducted in two different phases. Phase 1, preliminary exam and Phase 2, mains exam. As per the latest decision PSC has quashed the two-phase exam structure. Now candidates need to attend only one exam with 100 questions and 1 ½ hour time. Since the changes were made in the pattern of exam PSC is yet to release the detailed syllabus and mark distribution.

Kerala PSC LGS 2023 Exam Date

We are expecting the Last Grade Servants exam by the mid of 2024. Exact Exam date is not mentioned in PSC’s Official website. Though Kerala PSC will be publishing its annual exam calendar on 1^st January, 2024 from which we will be able to know the month in which exam might be conducted.

Kerala PSC LGS 2023 Pay Scale

With a good government job comes a decent and permanent salary. As per the latest Pay Revision Commission’s Report LGS salary comes in a scale of ₹ 23,000 – 50200 /-.

Kerala PSC LGS 2023 Qualification

PSC LGS exams set a minimum qualification of 7^th Pass and should not have acquired a degree. The qualification rules will be strictly followed. All candidates who are possessing any degree are ineligible for this post. If applications are submitted contrary to this eligibility criteria by suppressing the fact and if a candidate is found selected, the respective applications will be rejected, their name will be removed from the ranked list and disciplinary action/punishment including removal from service will be taken. Therefore, the candidates are requested to follow the Qualification criteria strictly.

Kerala PSC is conducting LGS Exams towards the vacancies of various posts in departments. Therefore, the eligibility criteria for some vacancies might be different from others. Job titles with a requirement of special eligibility is as mentioned in the below table.

Kerala PSC LGS LGS 2023 Age Limit and Relaxation

As per Keral PSC Notification for Category 535/2023 only ccandidates aged between 18-36 (born between 02.01.1987 and 01.01.2005, also both dates included)) are eligible to apply for this post. Standard age relaxations are applicable for OBC and SC/ST candidates. For OBC candidates upper age limit is 39 years and for SC/ST candidates the limit will be 41 years.

Since the changes were made in the pattern of exam PSC is yet to release the detailed syllabus and mark distribution. Kerala PSC LGS LGS 2023 Rank List

The current rank list will be expiring on 17^th July, 2025. New rank list will come into existence on the very next day as per PSC rule. Rank Lists will be published separately for each Districts following the exams. The rank list will remain for a minimum of one year or till the expiry of three years whichever is earlier. Candidates will be advised for appointment against aforesaid vacancies and also against the vacancies, if any, reported during the currency of the lists.

Kerala PSC LGS LGS 2023 Cutoffs

For LGS Exams conducted for all the 14 districts cut off marks were set as per the competition to each district. The cut offs were set as per the performance of candidates applied to each district. For the 2019 LGS the least cut off marks was for the district of Idukki and highest for the district of Kannur. District wise detailed cutoff marks for 2017 and 2019 notifications are mentioned in below table.

Kerala PSC LGS | How to Apply?

• To apply for Kerala PSC LGS Exam candidates must have registered their profile in PSC’s official site for registration thulasi.psc.kerala.gov.in
• After updating the profiles with personal and academic details upload the scanned copy of a recent photograph with width 150pixels and height 200 pixels. Make sure the photo is on or below 30KB size.
• The photo should mention the name of candidate and date on which the picture has been taken. Date of picture must be below 10 years as on the date of application.
• Also a scanned image of candidate signature with 150 pixels width and 100 pixels height should be uploaded.
• Bothe the images should be clear and in JPG format.
• When the profile creation is completed note down the user id and password for future reference.
• After logging in click on the “Notification” in the profile.
• Click on “District-wise-Direct-General”.
• Click on “Check Availability” box under Last Grade Servants title
• If the candidate is eligible the “Apply Now” Box.
• Choose the district to which candidate would like to be posted.
• Choose the District and Taluk for desired exam centre.
