Kerala State government is all set to make revolutionary changes in State School Education system. The changes include the nature of Teachers’ recruitment in various levels of classes. Khader Committee has been convened by the state government to study and make recommendations to improve the state’s school education system. The committee headed by Dr. M.A. Khader submitted a comprehensive report on the need of changes in various aspects of school education, including the method of recruiting teachers for various levels.

The recommendations regarding recruitment of Teachers, include the modified educational qualification, methods of recruitments, promotion, etc.

In the wake of the findings Khader Committee has found that PSC examination alone can’t be the measurement of real teaching aptitude anymore. This might lead to a more extensive recruitment process, hereafter. To this end the proposal for a Teacher Recruitment Board has been put forward.

The board is supposed to be an independent entity working within or outside Kerala Public Service Commission. All the fresh recruitments, recommendations for promotions, and reporting of the vacancies will be conducted via this board. Also, the recruitment of teachers to aided school will come under the purview of Teacher Recruitment Board.

New Teacher Qualifications for PSC Exams.

As part of the reformation in Kerala’s school education system, only graduates or degree holders can apply for teaching posts under Kerala PSC. In the event of actualization of the committee report, qualifications considered for the recruitment of various JLT posts such as JLT Sanskrit, JLT Hindi, JLT Arabic might become invalid. Since the Government of Kerala has only given partial consent to the Khader committee recommendations. And a comprehensive official order is yet to be released by the government.
