ICDS SUPERVISOR KERALA PSC NOTIFICATION 2023

The Kerala PSC ICDS Supervisor recruitment has been released on 15th September 2023, notifying some anticipated vacancies in the Women and Child Development Department. This is a direct recruitment post that is only reserved for women and other candidates including differently abled candidates are found ineligible to apply. The qualification also restricts candidates with a degree in a certain specialization as mentioned in the gazette or a degree in any discipline with TTC or Balasevika Training certificate. So, the competition will not be as tight as expected for an LDC, Common 10th, 12th, or degree level exams.

What is ICDS?

ICDS also known as Integrated Child Development Services an ad hoc of the government of India that regulates basic necessities like food, preschool, primary education and healthcare, health check-ups, immunization, and referral facilities for children under 6 years and their mothers. This scheme was launched in the year 1975 by the Morarji Desai Government and was again relaunched by the tenth five-year plan.

The Tent Five-year plan also linked with the “Anganwadi” centers which were established mainly in rural areas to foster child and mother nutrition, health care, immunization, equal resources, and elementary education to children to even the weaker sect of the society.

KERALA PSC ICDS SUPERVISOR ELIGIBILITY

The Kerala PSC ICDS Supervisor post implies a few eligibility criteria as discussed below.

KERALA PSC ICDS SUPERVISOR AGE LIMIT

Kerala PSC ICDS Supervisor exam can be appeared by candidates in the age range from 18 years to 36 years. However, there shall be permissible age relaxation for candidates belonging to SC, ST, and other backward communities. This post can be also applied by regular Anganwadi workers of ICDS who enjoy age relaxations as per the General conditions stated in the gazette.

KERALA PSC ICDS SUPERVISOR QUALIFICATION

The Kerala Public Commission stipulates the following qualifications as the requisite one to the post of ICDS Supervisor in the Women and Child Development Department.

(1) Degree in Sociology/Social Work, Home Science, or Psychology from a recognized University.

OR

(2) A Degree in any other discipline of a recognized University along with a Balasevika Training certificate (One Year Course) issued by the Indian/State Council for Child Welfare or any other recognised Institutions or Pre- Primary Teachers Training Certificate from Institutions recognized by the Government.

ICDS SUPERVISOR SALARY

The salary commissioned for ICDS Supervisor is very promising especially for a candidate to start their career as a government employee. A net pay from Rs 37400 to 79000 is designated for this post by the Women and Child Development Department.

Further, candidates shall advocate caution while filling up basic details in the profile as well as while uploading the documents as any discrepancies in the information can affect your recruitment process at the final stages.

Follow these simple steps below to Apply,

  • Go to the website @ https://www.keralapsc.gov.in/home-2
  • Now, select the ‘One Time Registration Login’ button for first-time users.
  • Then, the page gets navigated to the Kerala PSC Thulasi log-in interface.
  • Existing users shall type in the user ID and password to log in while new users should select the “New Registration” tab near to the “Sign Up” section.
  • A new Registration page opens up, prompting you to enter basic details as shown in the image below.

  • After this section, you can set a user ID and password of your choice.
  • Finally, fill in the declaration to finish up this initial phase
  • Now you can use the user ID and password created to login to the Kerala PSC Thulasi profile.

ICDS SUPERVISOR SYLLABUS

Candidates shall use the syllabus notified for previous categories 299/2020 or 238/2018 which has the core topic syllabus and should refrain from following the 149/2022 syllabus as this recruitment was conducted for graduates from any discipline, so it had a general syllabus.

1. Physiology and Microbiology

Digestive system, Cardio Vascular System, and Reproductive system. Food Microbiology, food poisoning, food spoilage, food born infection, Diseases caused by Micro-organism (a) Bacterial Pneumonia, Meningitis, Cholera, Syphilis, Diphtheria, Leprosy (b) Virus - AIDS, Rabies, German measles, Measles, mumps, polo mellitus (c) Amoebic dysentery, malaria

2. Child Development and Welfare

The neonates - Characteristics, abilities and adjustments, reflexes - agar test, neonatal care - Immunization, - Breastfeeding Advantages. Importance of early stimulation, Discipline and guidance for children, preschool education – objectives, types, pre-school personnel, preschool records. Child-rearing practices of parents, parental attitudes, and families influence the personality and behavior development of children. Responsible parenthood (acceptance, injection, and over protection), Population education definition problems of over population, small family norm, family planning, sex education, STD.

3. Human Nutrition and dietic

Good Nutrition, Malnutrition, balanced diet, RDA, Carbohydrates, Proteins, Lipids, vitamins and minerals— Classification, functions, Sources and deficiencies, dietary fibre, Diet in fevers, Diarrhoea, constipation, Pregnancy, Lactation, Pre-school, and adolescents. Meal planning, Therapeutic nutrition, Important National and International agencies.

4. Extension education and communication

Extension Education, definition, need principles, philosophy, the difference between formal, informal, and extension education. Community development - objectives, history of community development programs in India, Poverty alleviation programs in India. Program development - Planning execution and evaluation. Communication methods, Audiovisual aids - classification

5. Basic food science

Food groups, cereals and cereal products, pulse and legumes, nuts and oil seeds, vegetables and fruits, milk and milk products, Meat, fish, egg and poultry, Beverages, spice and condiments - composition and nutrient value, selection of these foods and storage.

2. SOCIOLOGY

1. Family

Nature, composition, characteristics, types - Patriarchal and matriarchal family Joint family, extended family, nuclear family, merits and demerits of joint family Disintegration of joint family in India, changing role of family, modern trends.

2. Social Problems

Domestic violence, alcoholism, dowry, dowry deaths, legislations related To dowry drug addiction, child labour, child abuse, rights of children, violence against Women, problems of the elderly, social psychological and economic, social security measures Educated unemployment, and underemployment.

3. Developmental Issues

Poverty alleviation programs, consumerism, rural-urban Disparities, Environmental degradation- air pollution, water pollution, solid waste management, climatic change, problems of induced displacement- social, economic, and cultural problems of displaced people.

4. Women and Development

Women in governance, gender issues, empowerment of Women, participation of women in socio-political activities, women in panchayat raj Institutions, role of self-help groups in socio-economic development of women.
